#OTD On This Day, July 23, 2010, Ralph "Rocket" Wheeler of the Myrtle Beach Pelicans threw batting practice prior to a game against the Frederick Keys at Harry Grove Stadium in Frederick, Md. Wheeler managed 18 seasons in the minors, including Rome, Myrtle Beach, Mississippi and Florida in the Braves' system. Last year he managed the Auburn Doubledays in the New York-Penn League. He was slated to be skipper of the GCL Nationals this year for his 44th year in professional baseball.
