#OTD On This Day, July 29, 2017, Phil Regan served as pitching coach for the Columbia Fireflies in a game against the Augusta GreenJackets at Spirit Communications Park in Columbia, South Carolina. Regan pitched in the majors for 16 years with the Tigers, Cubs, Dodgers and White Sox, and was an All-Star in 1966. He managed in the Dodgers organization, was pitching coach for the Cubs and Indians, was Team USA pitching coach in the 2000 Olympics, and was a Mets minor league pitching coordinator and pitching coach. Last year he managed in the Dominican league.
